My allergy freak-out (and freedom!) story... and how you can do it too!

Do you have seasonal allergies?

This is my fifth allergy-free spring!!!

I can enjoy the flowers

without getting allergic!

(Keep reading if you want this for you and your family!)

I am so grateful.

You, too, can tiptoe through the tulips

roll down flowery hillsides and

lie in the grass under blossoming cherry trees

(or any trees and their innocent pollen)...

without drugs or misery!

Sound impossible?

I get it - I used to think I was locked in to a lifetime of snotty, headachy, drippy, frustrating allergy seasons.

Like it was just my lot in life.  (It's not!)

Like it was permanent.  (Untrue!)

For my entire life the beautiful blossoms of spring, their sweet fragrance on the mild breeze, even the swelling buds on the trees totally stressed me out.

They were shouting to me that I was about to be intensely, miserably allergic for months.

Again.

Every Spring, do you or your kids get:

  • an uncontrollably runny nose

  • itchy eyes

  • sore throats

  • sinus headaches

  • cough (that keeps you all up at night)

...for 2 months straight?

I did.  Every year.  Without exception.

This is what it was like:

Every spring, I had an uncontrollably runny nose, itchy eyes, sore throat, sinus headaches and cough for months. Without exception. Even with drugs.

All through my school years, I would take whatever allergy medicine was in vogue and still get post-nasal-drip on my coloring, my workbooks and eventually the pages of my notebooks.

I would get so lightheaded from Sudafed in college that sometimes I'd have to hold onto a wall or sit down to get my bearings.  My heart would be beating waaaay too fast, but I kept taking them because I couldn't function otherwise.

I remember going backpacking with friends and completely giving up - I let my nose run down my face for miles as we hiked up the gorgeous and pollen-filled Elwha valley.

I would put on my mask before procedures in the interventional radiology lab where I worked, and because I was "scrubbed in" and sterile, not blow my nose until after the patient was safely off the table and in recovery... which sometimes meant hours of the mask on my face filling with my own snot.

Totally gross.

And that was just my nose! If you have allergies, you know how it affects your whole body, your energy, your sleep, your patience, YOUR LIFE.

I'm sure you have your own stories.

It's irritating.

It's miserable for your kids.

It's miserable for you.

AND IT REALLY GETS IN THE WAY OF BEING THE MOM YOU WANT TO BE!

How hard is it to cook when you have to wipe your nose every three seconds?!?

How frustrating is it to loose your patience with your kids because you're already exhausted and irritated to the breaking point by your stupid allergies?!?

Have you ever gone out on a lovely spring outing and on the way home had a sneezing fit that launched a major panic attack and ridiculous, tearful demands that your husband immediately exit the highway and go to that Lowe's for air filters... yes, NOW!!! ... or you might have to move to another state tonight?!?  (Yes, I did that.)

Well, the air filters didn't stop my allergies.  And I'm willing to bet they're not stopping yours either.

That's because it's not as much about the pollen as it is about your gut.

I can guarantee your body is doing its very best to protect you!  But, like my body was, your body is a little confused.

So let's get this straight right now:

Nature is not the enemy!

You know who IS the enemy?

The stuff that's damaging your gut!

Fix your gut and fix your child's gut, and say good bye to:

the giant cases of tissues

months of your child's raw upper lip from all the nose blowing

explaining "we're not sick it's allergies" several times a day

the endless and expensive quest for the "best" air filters

tripping over all those air filter cords

that pesky cough that wakes you and your child up at night

midnight runs to the pharmacy for more allergy pills

worrying that the allergy meds aren't safe

and everything else that blows about having allergies!

Instead, how about....

Putting a bouquet of spring flowers on your table!

Going outside without tissues!

Leaving the windows open!

Enjoying that spring breeze!

Letting the allergy meds get lost in the bottom of the drawer!

I'm not kidding.

I kicked my seasonal allergies

and you can do it too.

It's all about your gut!

Know what else?

You don't have to be perfect to give yourself and your child AMAZING RELIEF FROM ALLERGIES this spring!

You just need to heal your guts!

Love,

Elissa
