Feed Your Healthy Happy Gut Microbes so they Crowd Out the Weeds
My Volunteer Tomatoes & Broccoli Plants & Your Healthy Happy Gut Microbes
My garden exploded with volunteer broccoli, cherry tomatoes (we ate the red ones!), arugula & kale!
I let my greens & veggies self-seed.
Flowers feed pollinators like bees, moths & butterflies - who support many other plants, trees, veggies & fruits!
We eat the flowers too!
Seeds feed the birds and mostly fall into the soil below.
Then they germinate and grow... without much effort from me :)
At our previous house, even the cracks in the driveway were full of parsley & arugula!
When I pull a weed, the space is quickly filledwith herbs, greens and veggie sprouts.
Because the soil is full of their seeds.
The veggies crowd out the weeds!
You can do the same with the helpful microbes in your gut.
How?
-- Feed your healthy happy gut bugs their favorite foods - lots of different colorful veggies & herbs & berries, nuts & seeds.
-- Keep them hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
-- Let them rest, by getting great sleep yourself!
-- Try not to hurt them or their terrain (your gut) - be careful with medicines, non-organic food that contains glyphosate, and other chemicals in your food and home. Practice stress release for less cortisol & inflammation.
-- Avoid sugar and processed foods to make it hard for the "weedy" gut bugs to thrive (the ones that contribute to dysbiosis & leaky gut).
A great first step is to make a habit to snack on gut-loving prebiotics - aka fiber-rich & nutrient-dense plants!
In our house, carrots & walnuts are standard.
They're portable, instant, filling & really tasty!
My son knows that almost any time, he can save himself as much of those as he wants - plus the other veggies in our garden & fridge.

I love to offer all-you-can-eat when it's the good stuff!
So...
What gut-loving snack will be standard in your house?
How will you nurture a self-seeding healthy-gut garden?
