Awesome fun entries! plus video of kid eating nettles!
This is incredible!
Here's a Healthy Gut Happy Child Kids Love Veggies World Wide Event update:
SO MANY AMAZING ENTRIES!
SO MANY KIDS EATING SO MANY VEGETABLES!
I’m completely blown away - and we're just a few days into the contest!
Keep those pics and videos coming, so we can inspire children worldwide to eat more veggies, and help feed their micro biomes the veggie variety that builds health and happiness!
Speaking of veggie variety, I was delighted to notice something interesting growing along the edge of the forest…
Stinging nettles!
I used to teach ethnobotany, and so taught my little boy how to eat a raw stinging nettle leaf without getting stung.
Nettles are an awesome source of vitamin C and iron, and nettle tea is a popular spring detox drink.
And the fresher you can eat a vegetable or herb, the more potent it’s benefits!
So I said to him “this leaf is so full of nutrition, it’s kind of like a vitamin pill!”
He popped it into his mouth, and then asked “will this get rid of my runny nose?”
(This was last week, when we were being a little “wild” with food)
“Maybe!” I answered.
In fact, stinging nettles are used for allergy and hay-fever relief!
(Please note: there is a long list of the benefits of nettles, however it may be unsafe during pregnancy, in diabetics, and in combination with other drugs, and may cause other health problems, so please do your own research and consult your physician before eating!)
What interesting veggies
are you and your family
